About Me
Personal Profile - Elaine Rees
For many years, I have known that I want to work with animals, making their lives better and improving the quality of their relationships with their human companions.
As a psychology graduate and holding a level 5 diploma in Animal Behaviour Management, I use cruelty free, science based methods for teaching and improving learning for both animals and humans.
I am a pet owner myself and I know how much our furry friends are part of the family and how rewarding relationships with them can be, but, sometimes, when these relationships break down or start to show signs of cracking through unwanted behavioural issues, it can be heartbreaking. Whether those behaviours consist of incessant barking, digging or inappropriate toiletting (to name but a few) I can help!
I am a fully qualified Animal Training Instructor (ATI) accredited by The Canine Training and Behaviour Society (TCBTS) an ABTC member organisation. For behavioural cases, I always work alongside a Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB) who oversees what I do and I am a provisional member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC) and a full Member of International Society of Animal Professionals (ISAP) so you can be sure that any behavioural or training programme I may recommend will be safe and without the use of some of the more old fashioned and aversive training methods.
Provisional Members [of the APBC] have demonstrated that they have the appropriate level of Knowledge and Understanding for the professional role of Animal Behaviour Technician (ABT). They are now gaining the practical experience necessary to be assessed as an ABT and therefore become a Full Member of the APBC. The APBC supports its Provisional ABT Members in providing preventative and first-aid behavioural advice to owners/handlers and/or co- professionals and in implementing behaviour modification and/or environmental modification plans, developed by a Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB) or Veterinary Behaviourist (VB) following assessment/evaluation of the animal by that same CAB or VB.
